So, Roller Derby, how are you appreciating your feline friends today?
First things first, I hope you recognize that the Olympics and cats do not have to be separate things:
And if we’re focusing in on sport, well, roller derby’s got that whole cat thing down.
Like when you’re learning the rules, sometimes you just need a cat to tell you whether you’re right or wrong.
Or perhaps you need some clarification on where the legal blocking zones are. With cats.
Maybe you just need some illustrative examples of how many of your roller derby track moments make you feel?
Or you’d like to join us in the joy of discovering that long-time Gotham All-Star and renowned skater, Bonnie Thunders is a cat lady. No, but seriously. She founded the amazing Trap, Neuter, Release program in her local neighborhood in New York, ThunderCats TNR. Follow them on Facebook, and you can get frequent adorable updates, such as this one:
Trust us, this really is a true story – it’s just too delightfully magical to not be real. In fact, here she is, talking to the Huffington Post, no less, about the program. If you want to help the program, why not try donating items from their wishlist?
Although ThunderCats got its name from its founder, everyone in roller derby seems to love the addition of a ‘toughener’ word on the front of their felines. Think Hellcats, Battle Cats, Demoncats, and even Wheeled Cats.
So the question remains: How are you celebrating felines today, roller derby? Hmm?
